Joint Statement of OMBAC and ITU
The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) and the USA
Triathlon (ITU) have unintentionally both scheduled concurrent events
on the same dates in the month of May 2012. The two groups have
met several times to try and work through the logistical challenges
presented by both groups proceeding with their own events at the
same time in the same area.
After careful consideration of all alternatives, the Old Mission
Beach Athletic Club has made the decision to pause the Coming Out
Party for 2012, hold a celebratory event in a smaller venue for
members and guests only and throw their full support behind the ITU
World Triathlon San Diego.
It is felt by all parties concerned that the ITU event will bring a
world class event to the City of San Diego and will showcase the City
on a worldwide stage. OMBAC is fully supportive of ITU and the San
Diego Sports Commission's efforts and is looking forward to the
weekend of May 12, 2012.
