OMBAC Rugby Banquet - Aug 5th, 2010

OMBAC Rugby will be having it's year-end banquet next Thursday to celebrate the 2010 season. Event details are:

When:	Thursday August 5th, 2010
Where:	Old Town Mexican Cafe 2489 San Diego Ave San Diego CA 92110 Google Maps
Time:	7PM to 10PM
Cost:	$30.00 per person (includes your meal and beer)

All players, partners, OMBAC members and supporters are welcome to attend. There will be awards and special recognition to players and supporters of the club this season.

Player Awards to be Announced:

Seven's	2009 Player of the Year
RSL	Forward of the Year Back of the Year
D3	Forward of the Year Back of the Year Rookie of the Year
MVP	OMBAC Most Valuable player for 2010

Strength and Conditioning Training

OMBAC Rugby has hired Kent Weyand as strength and conditioning coach for the 2011 rugby season. Kent has put together a great program for summer and pre-season training, specifically tailoring sessions for:

Playing rugby

Injury prevention

Most importantly, getting players ready for the season.

These workouts will let players progress to where they need to be come January. Spots are limited so please contact Geno Mazza ASAP if you are interested. Sessions are $15 per person per session and start Saturday, July 17th from 10AM to 12PM.

D3 are 2010 National Champions

The OMBAC D3 team is now the 2010 Division 3 National Champion after winning 28-14 against the St Louis Royals in the championship game this morning. Match report and photos.

One down, one to go for D3

The OMBAC D3 Team survived a second half resurgence by Virginia to wi n 29-12 today in the Division Three National Championship Semi-Final in Glendale, Colorado. They now take on St Louis at 11am tomorrow (10am San Diego time) in the 2010 National Championship game. The game will available to watch online via U-Stream.

Come down to the Little Q on June 3rd at 7pm to show your support for the OMBAC D3 Team and wish them well before they leave for Glendale, Colorado to play for the 2010 Division 3 National Championship.

D3 through to Final 4

The D3 Team conceded just 7 points in wins over Budd Bay and Marin last weekend at the "Sweet 16" tournament in Austin, Texas. D3 now head to Glendale, CO (Rugbytown USA) in two weeks for the Final Four tournament and a chance to take home a national championship.

Super League ends season with a win at home

The OMBAC RSL Team finished their season on a high with a hard fought win at The Little Q over Dallas 29-21.

D3 clinch SoCal Championship with late try

The OMBAC Division 3 team scored a late try against San Pedro to win 17-15 and clinch the Southern California Division 3 championship. The D3 team are now seeded 6th going into the "Sweet 16" National Playoffs held May 22-23 in Austin, Texas.

Bus ride to D3 playoff game in Beaumont

There are two buses going to the D3 playoff game in Beaumont, CA this Saturday (4/24/10). Details are:

Leaving from: Beachcomber parking lot. Arrive at 7:15am for a 7:30am departure.

Returning to: Beachcomber parking lot around 6pm.

Cost: $30 per person (includes beer on the bus).

After party: Beachcomber.

D3 in playoff game this Saturday (4/24/10)

The OMBAC Rugby D3 team faces Beaumont in the SoCal playoffs this Saturday (4/24/10) at Beaumont. A win will put the D3 team in the running to compete for the National Championship in June.

D3 now equal 2nd after win over San Pedro

With the 31-20 win over San Pedro on Saturday (3/27/2010), the OMBAC Rugby D3 team is now equal second in Division 3 (Blue) with one game left in the regular season.

OMBAC's Zac Pangelinan on USA 7s Team

OMBAC Rugby Super League player Zac Pangelinan made the USA 7s team that played in Adelaide, Australia over the weekend. The USA team had a great tournament but went down to Samoa 38 -10 in the Cup Final.
