OMBAC Classic Longboard Surfing Contest
The History
The OMBAC Classic Longboard Surfing Contest has a rich history dating back to the 1960s. It was a time when longboarding was at its peak, and the contest reflected this golden era. Organized by the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC), the contest celebrated the classic style of longboard surfing. It was a time when surfers rode vintage or traditionally styled longboards, focusing on style and grace rather than high-performance maneuvers. The contest has evolved over the years, but it has always stayed true to its original spirit. It continues to be a nod to the golden era of surfing, preserving the heritage of longboard surfing.
